Psalm 21:2–3, 4–5, 6–7
Mark 2:13–17
Notes:
Saul is anointed in hiddenness before he is revealed. God prepares leaders long before they are seen. Jesus calls Levi, a tax collector, showing that God’s kingdom reaches into places others avoid. Mercy becomes the mark of divine authority.
Sunday – January 18, 2026
Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Isaiah 62:1–5
Psalm 96:1–2, 2–3, 7–8, 9–10
1 Corinthians 12:4–11
John 2:1–11
Notes:
The wedding at Cana reveals the quiet glory of Christ. What begins as an ordinary human concern becomes the stage for divine abundance. Jesus’ first sign discloses that God’s Kingdom restores joy and transforms what is empty into something new, echoing Isaiah’s promise that God rejoices in His people as a bridegroom over a bride.
Monday – January 19, 2026
1 Samuel 16:1–13
Psalm 89:20, 21–22, 27–28
Mark 2:18–22
Notes:
God looks not at outward appearance but at the heart, choosing David while others are overlooked. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that new life cannot be contained within old structures. God’s work often breaks expectations, calling for hearts willing to be reshaped.
Tuesday – January 20, 2026
1 Samuel 16:14–23
Psalm 66:2–3, 4–5, 6–7, 16, 20
Mark 2:23–28
Notes:
David’s music brings peace where darkness reigns. Jesus declares Himself Lord of the Sabbath, reminding Israel that God’s law exists for life and mercy. True holiness restores what is wounded and frees what is burdened.
Wednesday – January 21, 2026
1 Samuel 17:32–33, 37, 40–51
Psalm 144:1b, 2, 9–10
Mark 3:1–6
Notes:
David steps forward with trust in the Lord rather than in weapons. Jesus heals on the Sabbath, exposing hardened hearts. Faith acts with courage, even when obedience challenges the expectations of others.
Thursday – January 22, 2026
1 Samuel 18:6–9; 19:1–7
Psalm 56:2–3, 9–10a, 10b–11, 12–13
Mark 3:7–12
Notes:
Jealousy fractures Saul’s heart, while Jonathan’s loyalty preserves life. Crowds seek Jesus, drawn by His power. God’s Kingdom gathers the wounded, yet still invites humility and restraint.
Friday – January 23, 2026
1 Samuel 24:3–21
Psalm 57:2, 3–4, 6 and 11
Mark 3:13–19
Notes:

Saturday – January 24, 2026
2 Samuel 1:1–4, 11–12, 19, 23–27
Psalm 80:2–3, 5–7
Mark 3:20–21
Notes:
David mourns Saul and Jonathan, honoring even those who wronged him. Jesus’ own family misunderstands Him. God’s purposes often move through sorrow and misunderstanding, yet remain faithful to love.
Sunday – January 25, 2026
Third Sunday in Ordinary Time (Sunday of the Word of God)
Nehemiah 8:2–4a, 5–6, 8–10
Psalm 19:8, 9, 10, 15
1 Corinthians 12:12–30
Luke 1:1–4; 4:14–21
Notes:
The Word of God is proclaimed and made present. Ezra reads the Law, and the people are renewed; Jesus proclaims Isaiah fulfilled in Himself. Scripture is not merely read—it speaks, gathers, and forms a living Body in Christ.
